I’ve followed and collected contemporary art and craft for several years. I try to go to as many exhibitions as I can, love to read and support young artists and its a rare month I don’t add something to my growing collection.
My collection currently is not large but the quality is in general quite high with important works from Rupert Spira, Edmund De Waal and Nagae Shigekazu being my current favourite works. I also have good examples of Gabrielle Koch, John Ward, Emmanuel Cooper, Julian Stair, Carina Ciscato, Chris Keenan, Bob Crooks (glass), Atsushi Takagaki, Naoki Takeyama (copper and enamel), and David Clarke (silver).
My current interest is in Japanese work that I discovered several years ago at Collect and I’m currently reading up on the history and current environment in Japan to understand more of the amazing work that is coming from that part of the world.
If it wasn’t for paying the bills I’d love to be running my own gallery.
